Definition: Low Liquidity Pairs
Low liquidity pairs are currency pairs that tend to attract less trading activity than major pairs. In practical terms, they usually have fewer standing orders and less continuous two-way flow (buyers and sellers) in the market.
Liquidity matters because it helps determine how easily price moves from one level to the next. When there is less liquidity, trades may match less smoothly, and observed prices can change in larger steps even over short periods.

- In the low liquidity pair, the available orders near the best prices may run out quickly. The same order may fill farther from the original quote, producing a larger average execution price.

Limitations and risks
Low liquidity pairs can increase uncertainty for multiple reasons:

Because outcomes depend on costs, execution method, and real-time conditions, historical or general expectations do not guarantee future behavior. Any calculation (for example, estimating slippage from observed past spreads) requires explicit assumptions about liquidity and order-book depth that can break when conditions change.
